Witnessing a Double Wedding --- Part II

MARRIAGES ARE MADE IN HEAVEN. IT'S UP TO YOU TO DO THE MAINTENANCE WORK.

You think this is the attire of a bridesmaid ? Uhmm,we’ll see…

Here we are during the wedding day. I am not a bridesmaid and Scotty is not a groomsman. But Wedding Days are special days that is the best time to be dressed-up! I love wearing corsets as you can see. I am wearing a brown one here. I love it because it molds and shapes my torso.

Officially, the Double Wedding the other day made me and Scotty as Wedding Godparents or we call in the Philippines as “Ninong” and “Ninang”. As primary sponsors , we should be constant support to Dale and Hope (our Godchildren) in the many aspects of life. I really think about this role seriously. This is the reason why we have to fit our Scotland trip schedule. Luckily, everything was set in good time. Thanks, goodness! (Well, Dale and Hope you’re lucky you asked as to be grandparents during Dale’s birthday, or else we’ll gonna refuse because I still think I am young enough to be one! lol. That’s just a joke. In our culture, if somebody asks you to be godparent you should never refuse because the offer signifies blessings. It’s not good to refuse it. I accepted it wholeheartedly. Anyway, I’ll get old eventually!hehehehe!). Too many Godparents in Wedding Day only signifies that in a Philippine culture we gave large impetus to relationships and connections. It is a very good support system. In the photo below you can see the Godparents of Dale and Hope. I think me and Scotty are the youngest here (ahhhh, now,we’re not getting any younger!).

What I like about their Wedding Day is that it is very practical. The wedding ceremony and the wedding reception took place in one location. There’s no hassle at all! The venue is really big enough to accommodate lots of people.

And the cake? I wouldn’t miss it. Here it is…

And I caught them kissing! Ah, make sure it’s the right bride you’re kissing, guys!hehehehe! I’m sure they know very well!

That's all folks, i hope you enjoyed the postings as i do. To all of you who gave me comments and messages, i wanna thank you all. I'll get back to you once we are settled in Scotland.

Again, to the newly-weds, CONGRATULATIONS AND MAY YOUR TRIBE INCREASE!

Me in Blue

What dress did i wear when my husband arrive? I chose this blue one. It's just very simple but i like the elegant blue color plus the little glitters that bring the dress to its almost perfection. I just need to woo my husband again! Isn't it that courting is an everyday routine?

I am matching this blue dress with my blue diamond collection.

Here we are the first family picture since my husband's arrival from Scotland.

And here's the sweetness picture....I know my husband is very tired from his trip but he is very happy to see us and yes, very happy to hold me again in his arms!

Shiela's Sincerest Soul

How much does each breath costs? Is it worth all the kinds of gold in the world? or the money in your bank account? a lavish Gucci watch? chic LV shoes or bags? loads of jewelry in a safety deposit box? Each day is very precious...Each breath is priceless...

Here is the story of my cousin Shiela who extended the life of another person by another year. No,she's not a nurse or a registered carer. She's a high school undergrad and her rich employer prefers her than anybody...not even her family...

My first cousin, Shiela---22 years old. I first saw her when she was 4 or 5 years old in an impoverished province of Negros. I saw her again last week. She evokes honesty, ignorance & the purest of the souls i ever encountered.

She came to Manila when she was 17 years old & worked as a helper to a very affluent Chinese family in the Philippines. Her kindness, sweetness, hardwork & honesty brought her endearly to the closest attention of her madam---a woman in her 50's---beautiful,sophisticated,high class, got a husband and 3 kids, and she got only a year to live. With secret cameras circulating in the big mansion where she's working, the Madam knows that her maid,Shiela is the most special one. So, she asked her to take care of her than taking care of some household chores assigned to her. And much to her delight, with my cousin's care together with the medical professionals she hired, her life is more than complete. My cousin, who is not a doctor, nor a nurse or a professional carer gave her the best medical service anyone could give. My cousin just gave her an extension of her life with that one last year the happiest ever. She died embracing my cousin---her happiness, her lifelong friend, her daughter. She often said to her,"I can only feel the love of a daughter through you..."

She died putting Shiela as one of the heirs in her Last Will & Testament, much to the dismay of her children. But my cousin left the splendid household after her death, leaving also how much might she got from that piece of paper. She never cared about the material remuneration. That's nothing. She felt that she also lost a mother & that life could never be replaced. Now,her memories, their memories will be with her forever.

I spent one whole day last week with my cousin. And with that one whole day,all that she'll blub and blub will be about her employer. When it was time for her to go back home(she lives now in Bulacan, 3 hours from Manila) my mom can't help but notice her nice, good quality shoes. My mom said,"Can i try?" My cousin said,"Auntie, if your feet will fit into it,i'll give the shoes to you." But of course it didn't fit! My cousin called me and wanted me to fit as well. I said,"What is this?Cinderella Story?" But she insisted and let me try it on. I said,"okay." And to everyone's suprise, the shoes just fit perfectly as if they were crafted for me. And when i look at the brand? It's an LV.

I knew then that the shoes came from her madam. She wanted to give the shoes to me because it just fits me perfectly. I don't wanna accept it because i know of the sentimental value the shoes is for her. She keep on insisting and said,"Please,Ate i want you to have it. I still have many shoes like this in my house & some i even gave to our relatives in the province. This one i want you to have it,please take this for you to remember me. I prefer rubber shoes than heeled shoes!"

Of course, i have it and of course even without the shoes i will always remember her. Her story just captivated my heart. The positive energy that she radiates, the unconditional love in her, the unselfishness & ignorance in her that you can only see in a child---these qualities are rare in a person.

I know that you cannot choose your relative. But if i'll gonna choose a cousin again in my next life,I'll gonna ask God to give her to me....And yes,she did have her comfortable rubber shoes!

Lady In Red

I love that song by Chris de Burgh entitled "Lady in Red." But why did he chose lady in red and not Lady in Black or Lady in Blue or Lady in Green? Was there something special about Red?

Red is an attractive color for babies. Hence, since i delivered my baby boy six months ago, Red is always a dominant color in my house and a dominant color for me. I think it helps with our bonding since he'll be staring at me longer.

In symbolism, Red is supposedly the first color perceived by man. Brain-injured persons suffering from temporary color-blindness start to perceive red before they are able to discern any other colors. Neolithic hunter peoples considered red to be the most important color endowed with life-giving powers. Protective powers of the color red against evil influence were common belief. Red wedding gown was en vogue in Nurnberg of the 18th century, but this tradition goes back to roman times: Roman brides were wrapped in a fiery red veil, the flammeum, which should warrant love and fertility. Greek, Albanian and Armenian brides wear red veils even today. Chinese brides are wearing red wedding gowns and are carried to the ceremony in a red litter. The bride walks on a red carpet and is greeted by the groom who lifts her red veil. Neighbours bring red eggs to the couple after a child is born. Red rose in Greek legends symbolizes love and infidelity.

I am passionate about red color, although i think i have almost all the colors in my closet. But since this month is February, the month of love because of the Valentine's Day and the month of celebrating the Chinese New Year, Red is often a festive color. I believe that this color brings good luck and fortune although in fashion, wearing red can add some weight and heavy on the eyes. Oh well, what the heck if it adds more inches ,this February i'll be wearing red and i'll be wearing it with a big smile on my face. Am sure my baby boy will notice me and will coo some more because of delight! But wearing red on a wedding day? i don't think so!
